Monovision Correction

Monovision is a visual refractive state of the eye, used to correct patients that have Presbyopia. In this condition, patients struggle to see Distance and near clearly. With Monovision, one eye is focused to see distance vision and the other eye is focused to see near vision.

The patient will not have to close one eye to read or close one eye to see distance; instead, both eyes are left open and the brain chooses which eye to look through depending on whether, what you want to see is near or far.

Often times, Monovision is implemented with contact lenses; however it can be done as a permanent procedure with refractive surgery. Such as Lasik, CK, Refractive lens Exchange, Cataract surgery and other refractive procedures.

It is important to understand that Monovision is not the best option for everyone. The success rate of Monovision in adapted contact lens wearers is 50–60%.

You should discuss this option thoroughly with Dr. Sanders and determine if you would benefit this type of correction.
