Dr. Marc Sanders is a recognized leader in cataract and refractive surgery. Among the first surgeons to perform laser vision correction over fifteen years ago, Dr. Sanders has stayed at the forefront of this rapidly changing field. He was one of the first surgeons to offer new techniques, such as Femtosecond, all-laser LASIK, custom wavefront optimized LASIK, conductive keratoplasty, refractive lens exchange, and presbyopic intraocular lenses. In fact, Dr. Sanders is a part-time professor at Baylor College of Medicine where he teaches surgeons in training. Committed to education and research, Dr. Sanders has published articles in the leading ophthalmic journals and has participated in clinical trials.
It should come as no surprise that many physicians and surgeons in the Houston area have chosen Dr. Sanders to perform their own eye surgery. The fact that these doctors have inside knowledge of the abilities of all eye surgeons in the area is a testament to Dr. Sanders’ surgical skill. Dr. Sanders has also operated on a variety of local and national celebrities. In 2005, he was named one of America’s Top Cataract and Refractive Surgeons by the Consumer Research Council of America. Dr. Sanders has also been voted a “Top Doctor” by a survey in H-Texas Magazine nine years in a row. Many doctors claim to have the best technology; however, Dr. Sanders is one of only a few doctors who is certified to use all these different excimer lasers: Allegretto WaveLight, VISX Star 4, LADARWave, IntraLase, Nidek EC-5000, and Bausch and Lomb Technolas 217. This allows Dr. Sanders to select the laser which would give the patient the best result. Dr. Sanders is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine, where he now holds a faculty position. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
