At Diagnostic Eye Center our specialized team of Doctors; and certified technicians will help assist you in examining the health of your eyes. Routine eye care services include:

Dr. Welton is an expert at fitting all types of contact lenses including soft contact lenses, colored contact lenses, extended wear lenses, toric contact lenses, and gas permeable contact lenses.

Our Staff

Our professional staff can help schedule your appointment and assist you with understanding and using your insurance benefits at the time of service. Diagnostic Eye Center participates in Medicare as well as most of the major insurance plans in the Greater Houston area. For your convenience, we assist in filing all claims for you.

When should you see an ophthamologist?

Regular checkups are essential to your eye care. In many cases, early warning signs of eye disease can be detected and arrested before more serious conditions develop. Medical diseases cover a range of common conditions. These diseases include glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, amblyopia (lazy eye), ocular infections, dry eye syndrome, as well as other eye diseases.

What happens during an eye examination?

During your exam, our Doctors and our team of Certified Technicians will help assist you in your Eye Exam; they will ask about your current symptoms and review your medical history. Eye drops to dilate your eyes may or may not be used during the exam.

The eye doctor evaluates the following:

• visual acuity
• need for eyeglasses or contact lenses
• eyelid health and function
• coordination of eye muscles
• pupil response to light
• side or peripheral vision
• intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye)
• the anterior segment of the eye (the area in front of the lens, including the cornea and iris)
• the interior and back of the eye

Laser Vision Correction

Laser vision correction procedures restore the eyesight of thousands of patients each year. Dr. Sanders performs laster in situ keratomileusis, or LASIK, a safe and proven procedure to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. He also offers conductive keratoplasty or  a non-laser method of correcting farsightedness. Dr. Sanders has performed thousands of LASIK procedures with excellent results. He was one of the first Houston doctors to offer Wavefront Customized LASIK and intralase all laser-LASIK.

Cataract Surgery

Dr. Sanders is experienced in small incision, no-stitch phacoemulsification cataract surgery and uses foldable intraocular lenses. He has performed thousands of cataract surgeries.

Medical Diseases

Medical diseases include glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, amblyopia (lazy eye), ocular infections, dry eye syndrome, as well as other eye diseases.

Surgical Diseases

Surgical diseases range from common to rare conditions. At Diagnostic Eye Center, we offer a variety of ocular surgeries, including eyelid surgery, glaucoma surgery, strabismus surgery for crossed eyes, and other types of ophthalmic procedures.

Laser Surgery

At Diagnostic Eye Center, we perform a variety of laser surgical procedures for vision correction, glaucoma, diabetes, and after-cataract conditions.

BOTOX/Cosmetic Surgery

BOTOX is an FDA approved treatment for facial frown lines and crow’s feet. Our doctors have specialized training in ocular plastic surgery, including BOTOX injections and lid surgery. We performed hundreds of these age-reducing procedures with excellent results.

Orthokeratology

This non-surgical technique can eliminate your need for eyeglasses or contacts.
