What is Blepharoplasy

Blepharoplasty-the surgical removal of excess or droopy skin; (sometimes weakened muscle) from the eyelids. It helps improve the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both; and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.

The Procedure

  • Evaluate pre-op consultation
  • Discussion of patient expectations
  • Pre and post-op photos
  • Surgery:
    • Nothing to eat 6 hours before
    • Discontinue all blood Thinners<
    • No alcohol 24 hour prior/after
    • Local Anesthesia/ 2-4 lids
    • Usually an office procedure

Recovery

  • Frozen green peas “ice Pack”
  • Stitches out in 7 days
  • Eye makeup after stitches out
  • Some bruising
  • Avoid Sun exposure

Exclusions For Blepharoplasty

  • Keloid (Hypertrophic scars)
  • Bleeding Disorders
  • Uncontrolled diabetes/hypertension
  • Paralytic eyelid
  • Cigarette smoking retards healing
  • Markedly droopy brows
  • Recent permanent eye cosmetics
  • Recent BOTOX Cosmetics
